5 Elements Yoga & Movement has its foundation in the decades of learning, studying, practicing and teaching by our head teacher, Gerardo Mulas.  Beyond being a highly accomplished martial artist and athlete, he has devoted decades of his life to this practice.

As a collegiate and pro athlete in his younger years, he found himself injured, overtrained, and psychologically burned out at times.  Also, he didn’t have a method to calm himself down before competition and how to process winning and losing in the most effective way.

These reasons, coupled with the need to find a path of health both psychologically and physically after sustaining multiple injuries, led him to embark in diving into the world of Yoga and Movement, both for fitness and for psychological benefits.

There are different Yoga systems, and traditionally the practice of Yoga was much more than a method of fitness; it was utilized by sages of the past to attain higher levels of consciousness, optimize health, vitality and longevity, and maintain the body strong to pursue self knowledge and knowledge of the Universe we are all part of.

Gerardo has always been intrigued by this aspect of Yoga.  This led him to travel, study and practice in remote corners of the world, with lifelong devoted practitioners.  Gerardo spent over 3 years and 3 months living at a Tibetan Center, learning and practicing yogic methods such as meditation, prana breathing techniques, and other practices aimed at learning about oneself in depth, and develop health and vitality.

In addition, he learned from some of the popular aspects of Yoga today, such as the Asthanga, Vinyasa and Hatha approaches.  This knowledge, coupled with his training in Capoeira, Ginastica Natural, and Movement Based methods, have equipped him with the skills to create an amazing system for health, vitality, fitness and joy.

5 Elements Yoga& Movement offers an all level program that will drastically help you with your flexibility, core strength, mobility, balance and overall health.
